Crosskeys Victoria Flute Band

Originally a part flute band, dwindling numbers in the early 1980's led to the transformation into a melody flute band. Having established itself by the late 1980's as one of the best melody bands at parades throughout Northern Ireland, it was decided in 1992 to join the N.I.B.A. and take part in their annual championships.

Under the baton of Mr Brian Houston the band began its competitive life and the first few years saw much learning and progress. 1995 saw the arrival of Mr Eddie McNally as conductor and much endeavour brought Crosskeys to the fore in the Melody Section being placed for the first time. The following year, 1996 saw Crosskeys competitive fulfiled by being crowned 'Champions of Ireland' playing the test piece 'On the Fields of Glory' by Brooks.

Crosskeys Victoria has also competed in the N.I.F.B.L. 'Own Choice' competitions, being placed on several occasions. They also claim to having won the solo flute championships, quartet championships and solo drum championships at the Small Ensemble Championships.
